Proud Father Of 2 Kids, started this blog to extend my sharing to benefit more people for positive and fulfilling life, thanks to an advise from a teacher in Special School. Encouragement looks at what we can be and believes in the best for each of us. It is also love in action, allowing one to take time to meditate on small miracles of life, to build confidence in ourselves and build that confidence in others as well.

Year End High - Holiday Journal Part 2

Its still holiday in our midst and how time flies, we are into the last week of the school holiday and soon to welcome another brand new year of Hope, Faith and most important of all Love. There were few highlights in Dec from where we left in late Nov to share in this post.

We visited the enable village in early Dec to celebrate its 1st anniversery, there were games and carnival, he had lots of fun too particpating in the actitvities from various stores set up and collected the stamps/chops to complete 8 at least in shortest time possible.

On the same day, I had also booked a hotel in town for family one night staycation to ready for Standard Charter Marathon early next morning. It was my first official run to end this year end running high running in 21 km distance.  It will never be possible without encouragement of my working colleagues and also seeking the inpsiration from my little hero who has come this far in his learning journey with life, I ran for him and dedicate the first metal to him after completing the race and had hotel breakfast together to celebrate.
I had decided to do extra for next year race for both him and his sister who will be taking her O level. I believe their journey into overcoming their respective challenges is comparable, if not, much more as compare to my pursuit to complete the full marathon distance.  Its gonna be another race I look forward to complete next year to show, journey with them and give them the head up.

Thumbs up for the free text books, thanks to school. He is so proud to be a Pathlighter.

One of the key highlights in Dec was a short 6 days holiday to Malaysia where we visited the in-laws, and had home stayed with them, went to Genting Highland together for a night retreat, check in Puchong hotel for a night staycation before returning home with many new great memories.

We had a simple Christmas lunch with my sister's family and bonding time at my place and ate log cake for tea time before gift exchange.

We will be visiting Garden By The Bay to experience the Christmas Wonderland before year end roll over to the New Year 2017.

2016 Year End High - Joy and Celebration Of Improvement

We have completed another school work year to our little hero's learning journey, they have been progressed and improvement to his academic results compared to SA1, so much to be thankful but yet a lot more to be expended to maximize his learning potential each day as we journey on with him.

The key highlights for Nov. must be The Purple Parade, it was a successful event with more people attended and participants, to celebrate abilities and support inclusion for people with special needs.
It was also a great occasion where parents meet parents and the little ones seek social to catch up with friends past or present. Bring great joys to see all coming together in celebration.

Family got a chance to visit mommy Micron Semi-con company at its latest Fab 10 plant open house. a great afternoon of joint engagement in surounding work environment, food and carnival.

He has resumed his swimming lesson from where he last left in late 2015 and is improving his gross motor skill to his hand-leg co-ordination and muscle development, so grateful to his coach, Mr Michael whom we are blessed to have cross path.

The swimming indirectly forge a renew friendship with his friend he first know during EIP time and together they swim, play and do homework to strike a work play life balance.

Family celebration reminds how far each child has grown and come this far among close family members with my sister.

Bowling game is new emerging sport that Fabian enjoy during this Dec holiday, as we explore to engage him out of his comfort room, is work in progress perfecting his imperfection to the game.
With time and patience in putting his bowl right, I am sure he will better his skill some day over yesterday.

He got to visit Kinokuniya book store with his sister durng one of the weekend, great insight for him to explore within and see juts how big the store can be.

Some of his me time moment and independent work captured, so blissful to watch.

Wefie with his sister, mommy and aunt, reminds us that Christmas season is near.

We just watch a movie, Moana two days ago and he enjoyed very much while Moana goes on a mission with demi-god Maui to save the people in their island. He had also successfully watch a movie without having to put on ear muff. We are happy and full of praise to see how much he has grown and transformed thus far.

A lunch date with his senior Pathlighter, Louis to whom we have learned and seek inspiration over the past years since we first cross path at ARC in this journey less travel back in early 2009. While he will be receiving his N level results soon and my little hero entering P5, I wish both the same for the best in their next endeavours come 2017.

The holiday has just begun and look forward to few more activities lining up in coming weeks leading to Christmas and New Year...Hi-5, staycation in early Dec and short Malaysia get away holidays in mid Dec to KL & Genting not forgetting house visit to freinds house during this season of giving and festivity.

Celebration, Joy & Appreciation

July finished strongly with  a successful charity fund raising  AVSW at Enable Village for a good cause. The family attended the event, met some teachers and friends  we have cross pathed, it was an enjoyable morning engagement before we left to nearby IKEA for our family lunch.

He has been inspired by Junior chef program on TV that sometimes he will suddenly ask to be volunterr for help and be his grandma assistant to learn a skill or two.  We are so ever ready to give green light with proper supervision.

The Pokemon Go game craze also got us excited as it will be another avenue to encourage family activities. I am feel with mix feeling as fortunately/unfortunately both of my kids are not so keen after learning how to play. Still we appreciate some simple blissful moment at the start.

This year our Nation celebrates 51 years of independence, we attended the National Day dinner with my sister family and glad that he enjoyed it too.
In last post, I shared he submitted a reserach from June school holiday entitle "My local Sport Hero", Ironically in August month, his local sport hero had another new achievement with the first Olympic Gold for Singapore, He watched it on TV and witnessed the moment but he asked why there are three 2 after the race, guess this is how special he is, while we are celebrating the one great victory, his focus could be on the 2-2-2 that follow right behind the 1. Nevertheless, he is proud of Schooling, his local sport hero, when I asked him.

He has grown up so much these day, every moment with him is worth while moment to be with. Taken in Time Zone during one of the weekend.
We had revisited Garden By the Bay in one of the weekend in Term 3, he likes the various display in Flower Dome and the Waterfall in the Cloud Forest, it was a good half day outing after lunch.

He requested to watch the Secret life of PET, it was also a moment that we feel relief now he is able to appreciate what he can and wanted to watch in the cinema. Hope with time, he will leverage his sensory challenge on loud environment as his auditory system matures.

During the Sep holiday, we brought him to watch his current favourite show, Barney & Friends. It was his first musical, though he may be a little old and out of place but nevertheless, he enjoyed and the experience that he had that matters for us. We want him to be able to experience like what other NT children enjoy and as long as he feel happy about it, we are alwasy fine with that. Happy for him to have good outcome at the end.

Just over last weekend, we had organized his first birthday celebration with friends, it was a long wait after 11 years but a worth while wait that we finally materialized this dream for him. We inivuted his classmates, busmates and friends that we had cross pathed during our early years in this learning jouney.
Friendship is important especially when he starts to seek social with some awareness how much it means to him to have friends that can have common interest, to help when need arises and support each others in their learning journey. He was excited and wanted his friend to stay longer but we are glad that he relented to follow adult schedule when it is time to leave. I am sure he will be longing and look forward to next opportunity to celebrate with friends.
We emptied out our master bed room, converted them into cosy corner and rename "VIP lounge", a space where all of them can come together, have play time and interaction to practise their social skill.  We were happy to capture some light moment of their natural unnaturalness or unnatural natureness. It was a simple arrangement and glad this simplicity can bring happiness onto the faces of every kids that went in to engage with play and seek social.  While the children were at play, we were glad that the parents too, have a great time getting to know each others and exchanging inspiration and success stories from each unique challenges unfold during the child's learning.

Aside from friends, we were happy to have his cousins from both my sister and his aunt from mommy side in attendance. Just before dinner that night, his cousin caught a Pikachu right at our place, indeed a day filled with joy, gratitude and surprise too, he is so blessed !  Appreciate all the parents for making time and allowing their child join us in the celebration, without which it will not have been possible for a good outcome. It takes a village and sometimes many villages in our strive towards inclusion . Kudos to all the super parents once again :)

We are all bounded by Love, starting is the hardest....but once you start it is hard to stop...the feeling is different once you get the flow coming. We have to keep learning alomg with him and have an open mind to try and encourage him to explore what he CAN.

Look forward to coming Purple Parade in early Nov.

June Holidays Random Bliss

Start my new post by sharing 2 quotes from Michelle Obama to inspire and encourage others:-

"Greatness comes when we appreciate each others strength."

"It's important for you to understand that your experience facing and overcoming adversity is actually one of your biggest advantages.“

June holidays had been very fulfilling and frutiful living for him and the family.

Bliss in completing homework

I did a research with him for his English June holiday homework "My local sports hero" on one morning and was bingo and spot on...Joseph Schooling is really our true local sports hero for he had just beaten MP in the 100M Fly, wish him all the best in coming Olyumpic Game.

Bliss in elevating his work and physical stamina

Bliss in taking meals together

Bliss in engaging school holiday enrichment program in-line skating

My little hero was happy to meet 2 of his friends in the same program, So happy and thankful to see him comes this far, glad he enjoyed the 5 days of 1.5hrs engagement.

Bliss in a short holidays staycation in KL & In-Laws Home Town Tanjung Sepat

We spent 2 nights in KL Sunway Resort & SPA hotel, enjoy meet up with cousins and bonding with swimming, food and ice-skating. The in-line skating skill he learnt in school was put to good use when he migrate to do the same on ice. Happy for his success:)

We had held a birthday celebration for his grandfather, my father in-law on a Friday during 3rd night of our holiday near Nilai, every in-law family members were dressed in their Sunday best attire for dinner cum karaoke.

We head back to my parents in-law home town Tanjung Sepat, a place I come to love for its warm heated people, nice food like bak kut teh and sea food, sea and sun near lover's bridge.

Bliss in being surprise twice with a simple birthday celebration for my living

What a fabulous June it had been, feel grateful and blessed, look forward to more great living in days ahead as we journey forward...

Simple reflection that keeps me going

Came across a well known mystic, Sadhguru sharing:-

"If your work is not life, I don’t see why you should do it. Your work also is life. Would your life happen if there was no work? – don’t think of only the economic aspects. So work is very much life. Do not ever make this demarcation that there is something called as work and life. There is life and life."

"Human experiences pleasant or unpleasant come from within. Elevate your self believe and mental attitude to strike a balance."

"Practise and focus on SELF attention is fundamental of your life existence to elevate mindfulness, awareness and perception. More joy, less fear. more love less depression."

"Chaos is not a choice. The choice that you have made is to reap out of the existing chaos"
